  1. Criteria for selecting Japanese government (MEXT) scholarship students (research students, university recommendation)

    Selection is based on a comprehensive evaluation of the following information of the application documents provided by the applicant:

    1. Academic performance
    2. Academic history/employment history/research history
    3. Language proficiency (Japanese, English)
    4. Whether the applicant's home university has an academic exchange agreement with Mie University
    5. Research plan
    6. Purpose of study abroad, the relevance of study abroad to the applicant's future plan, and the utilization of study abroad experiences
    7. Views on international exchange
    8. Interview (including email and telephone interviews)
  2. Criteria for selecting Japanese government (MEXT) scholarship students (research students, domestic selection)

    Selection is based on a comprehensive evaluation of the following information of the application documents provided by the applicant:

    1. Academic performance
    2. Current course
    3. Financial situation
    4. Whether the applicants lives in a university dormitory
    5. Number of times that the applicant has applied for the scholarship
    6. Research achievements
    7. Motivation for study abroad and plans for after completing the study
    8. Views on international exchange
  3. Criteria for selecting Japan Student Services Organization Short-term Students Exchange Promotion Program (Inbound) Scholarship students

    Selection is based on a comprehensive evaluation of the following information of the application documents provided by the applicant:

    1. Academic performance
    2. Education history/research history
    3. Language proficiency
    4. Strength of the motivation for study abroad
    5. Clarity of the purpose of study abroad
    6. Persuasiveness of the statement of benefits of study abroad
    7. Views on and interests in understanding of different cultures
  4. Criteria for selecting Japan Student Services Organization Short-term Students Exchange Promotion Program (Outbound) Scholarship students

    Selection is based on a comprehensive evaluation of the applicant's academic performance and interviews (including the application documents).

    1. Academic performance
    2. Evaluation of the application form and interviews
      • Language proficiency
      • Learning/research ability
      • Persuasiveness of the statement of motivation for, purpose of, and benefits of study abroad
      • Social (international) activities
      • Character, attitude, willingness, and cooperativeness
  5. Criteria for selecting Japan Student Services Organization Honors scholarship or private organization scholarship students

    Selection is based on a comprehensive evaluation of the following information of the application documents provided by the applicant:

    1. Academic performance
    2. Current course and year
    3. Academic plans
    4. Current or previous scholarships
